OSCP Development

Oil Spill Contingency Plan (OSCP) is an integrated plan which is necessary in the oil spill response operations as a guideline to ensure the operation will be efficiently and safely conducted. The primary purpose of this plan is to set the necessary actions to stop or contain any discharge of oil and to mitigate the negative effects of oil spill.

OSCP components referring to the guidelines such as IMO, IPIECA, and also regulations, are as follow.

  • Strategy Section: This section describe the scope of the plan, including the geographical coverage, perceived risks, roles / responsibilities of those charged with implementing the response plan and strategy.
  • Operation Section: This section set out the emergency procedures that will allow rapid assessment of spill and the mobilization of appropriate response resource.
  • Information Section: This section contain all relevant information, resource lists and data sheets required to support the oil spill response effort.

OSRE Inspection and Maintenance

Oil Spill Response Equipment must be inspected and maintained regularly to ensure it complies with standards and must also be tested routinly to ensure it can be used in emergency conditions especially in real oil spill incidents. Inspection and maintenance should be carried out to ensure OSRE is working properly and every component is ready 24/7.
